The Right Reverend  Harold Louis Wright Jr., S. T. D., Suffragan Bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of New York was the first Bishop of  African descent for the diocese. Consecrated February 2, 1974
He was born Boston , Massachusetts in 1929. Church musician, seminary instructor, parish priest. Rector, Church of the Resurrection, East Elmhurst, New York. Executive Council staff; Ministries coordinator, Diocese of New York. Chair, National Commission for Black Ministries.  He died in Queens, New York of a heart attack in 1978.
