Isaac Fortune

In the year 1795, a free person of color named Isaac Fortune, along with others, petitioned the parish for funds to help them purchase land to bury black persons of every denomination, whether free or bond.  This image of the survey  map of the location of the burial grounds in lower Manhattan.
