In 1973, the Rev. Thomas F. Pike officiated a memorial service at Calvary Church that inspired Pauli Murray to pursue ordination. Shortly after this event, in 1976, the Calvary parish merged with the nearby parishes of St. George’s Church and the Church of the Holy Communion to form the Parish of Calvary-St. George. Following this consolidation, the Church of the Holy Communion building was sold, while Calvary Church remained an active historic sanctuary.
